My Plan, His Plan…

Do you ever wonder why certain things don’t work out the way you anticipated? Maybe you had life planned from the get-go but things have been happening the complete opposite.

I was thinking about my career and how slow things have been moving. I had everything planned for my future; how I was going to take this course and that course. The ultimate goal for me was to climb the career-ladder as high and as fast as I could. I look back now and it feels like that dream is still far from reality.

I should’ve studied more, I thought. I should’ve worked harder, maybe I should’ve been more serious in making this dream a reality. These thoughts have been bugging my mind for a while. I see young ladies like myself with higher positions and I’m like God why? I have worked hard enough and planned well, why isn’t this happening for me?

I was reading the Bible and came across Proverbs 16:33,

“The lot is cast into the lap,
But it’s every decision is from the Lord.”

This scripture has not only been a great revelation but also a peaceful one.
I have come to realise that all the plans I made were more to the glory of my flesh than to the glory of God. Why did I want to move up so high so quickly? Was it for prideful gain or financial gain? My motives were not entirely pure. I didn’t invite God into my plan and clearly I had very little regard for Proverbs 16:9,

“In their hearts human plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps”.

So, the Lord interrupted my plans. Now, I could’ve gone ahead and achieved those goals however, there would be no peace within. I would be empty and the will of God for my life would’ve prolonged.

I am all for hard-work and studying; by all means do that as the scripture says whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might (Ecclesiastes 9:10). I believe this must be done within the will of God. Don’t misquote scripture by working hard on something you clearly know God doesn’t want for you in hope of changing His mind because it won’t.

Make sure you are in the right path by inviting God into your plans from the beginning.

Proverbs 3:6

“In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your path.”

Understand this, planning is good however no matter how well one plans life, the ultimate decision lies with God.

As for me, my soul is gently resting in Him. I may not be at the level I want to be but I know I’m in line with the will of God.

It may not be career for you but whatever it is, if it’s God’s will, know that He will establish it in His own time. Pray and do your part. Examine your heart; make sure your motives are pure.

Before I end let me just state this, when one gives their life to Christ, they surrender all, including their will. Therefore, when making those future plans, don’t forget to ask God to let His will be done. Christ once said in Matthew 26:39,

“O my Father, if this is possible let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will”.

Though His flesh did not want to die, He acknowledged the will of the Father. Allow the will of your Father in Heaven to be done in your life.

Psalms 37:32,

“The steps of a good man is ordered by God and He delights in his ways.”

I’m praying for you.

Blessings,

LadyEuny.
